Taller de sumi-e en Valencia, Invierno / Sumi-e workshop in Valencia, Winter

Tema: “Invierno - El ciruelo florido, la nieve”
El sumi-e es un arte milenario que usaron los monjes Zen y los taoístas para obtener armonía y longevidad. Ahora lo podemos practicar en nuestra ciudad y conocer sus secretos y beneficios innumerables para la salud. Aprenderemos y perfeccionaremos las técnicas para pintar el ciruelo en flor (símbolo del invierno y de la
constante capacidad de renovarse). Además aprenderemos a representar la nieve en el paisaje. Se trabaja a partir del estudio de obras maestras y con modelos del natural. Practicamos una breve meditación en Zazen antes de comenzar a pintar para preparar la actitud mental adecuada y concentrarnos en el trabajo creativo. No son necesarios conocimientos de arte. Si siempre deseaste expresarte con el dibujo o la pintura con libertad ¡este es tu momento de aprender! Si ya sabes algo ¡podrás perfeccionarlo!

Sumi-e workshop in Valencia, winter

Subject: "Winter - Plum blossom, the snow"

Sumi-e, a Japanese term meaning "ink painting", was imported from China around the 7th century A.D. by Japanese scholars seeking a cultural exchange. When they returned to Japan, the newly ordained Zen Buddhist priests admired this ink painting and valued it for its artistic discipline. They praised the monochromatic style for its ability to stimulate the illusion of color, the disciplined brush work, and its depth of shading and emotional impact.

It’s an ancient art used by Zen monks and Taoists to obtain harmony and longevity. Now we can practice it in our city and learn its secrets and innumerable health benefits. Learn and perfect the techniques to paint plum blossom (the symbol of winter and constant capacity to renew). Also we will learn how to represent the snow on the landscape. We work studying masterpieces and natural models. We practice Zazen meditation briefly before starting to paint, in order to prepare the proper mental attitude focusing ourselves on creative work. No art skills are required. If you always wanted to express yourself through drawing or painting, this is your time to learn! If you already know something about Sumi-e, you can improve it!
